Crush & Brush

One of the handy items I have for reducing waste while travelling and camping is little matchbox containers of tooth tablets.

Toothpaste tubes are not recyclable so these little cardboard containers are perfect for carrying in backpack or purse. For Tiny Home living the tablets also come in larger cardboard tubes. There is no plastic packaging.

The tooth tablets are made by Nelson Naturals from (yes) Nelson B.C..Partners Dana and Kevin who, after hunting for effective-fluoride-free toothpaste to no avail, began their business selling toothpaste in jam jars at the local farmer’s market. The demand grew and they decided to go professional with Nelson Naturals.

I began using Nelson Natural toothpaste in glass jars but earlier this year they introduced this toothpaste in tablet form. I finding popping and crushing tablet in mouth very convenient. Buddy, who has a habit of chewing hard mints, had to learn not to chew and swallow before brushing.

Another plus to using tablets is they use less water for brushing teeth. Another feature is you can clean your teeth even if you don't have toothbrush with you.

As stated the tooth tablets are fluoride -free. here is a list of the ingredients : Calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, xylitol, potassium bitartrate (cream of tartar), activated charcoal (charcoal SKU), *spearmint flavour, *peppermint flavour, menthol, sel marin (sea salt), gum arabic, magnesium stearate, silica, microcrystalline cellulose. *organic ingredient.

The tablet does not froth up in your mouth like toothpaste but after brushing my teeth felt really clean.
